If you have a child in elementary school, you know that the 100th day of school is a big deal. It is usually filled with tons of fun activities all focused on counting to 100. In short, it is a fun filled day that both kids and teachers alike absolutely love. Above all, this post is for parents or teachers alike to provide you with last minute ideas to celebrate the 100th Day of School.

Some of the activities I will introduce are:

  • 100th Day of school t-shirt
  • Collections of 100
  • Write 100 (or $100) words
  • 100 seconds to win it games
  • 100 acts of kindness

Let’s get started!

100th Day of School T-Shirt

One of may favorite 100th day of school activities is to have everyone make their own t-shirt to wear. The idea here is that they decorate it with 100 of something on it. As a parent, this can be a super simple activity.

To start, grab a shirt – it can be new or old, blank or have a design already on it. Then, pick a theme for your shirt. In addition to the ideas below, I love the idea of “pushing my teacher’s buttons for 100 days” or “100 days smarter.” Next, start adding 100 things to it. For example, the idea of pushing my teacher’s buttons, add 100 buttons. Additionally, for the idea of 100 days smarter, you can glue smarties to the shirt. Other examples of things to add are stickers, pom poms or googly eyes. In contrast, to keep it super simple, you can just draw something like hearts.

Collections of 100 for the 100th Day of School

This is another popular, and simple, 100th day of school activity. All you have to do is help children collect 100 things. Ultimately, you should be collecting things you have around the house. For example, rice, pasta, LEGOs, crackers, crayons, and so on.

This could also turn into a really cool activity where you can compare what 100 looks like with different sized items. For example, how does 100 grains of rice compare to 100 pieces of pasta?

Write 100 (or $100) Words

Add a literacy spin to the 100th day of school by having kids race to write 100 words. There are no rules about what kind of words they can write, other than they have to be real words. Kids will have so much fun and you will get to see their fun and competitive sides!

For older kids, challenge them to write $100 words. This adds a fun math spin to the day. For this activity, all you have to do is assign each letter a dollar amount. Kids then use this to add up a dollar amount for words they write. I suggest starting by having them see how much money their name costs. See how many they can get! 100 Seconds to Win It

One of my absolute favorite activities to do with kids is minute-to-win-it games. So let’s put a spin on it for the 100th day of school and call it 100 seconds to win it. Can your students stack 100 solo cups in 100 seconds? Can they keep 100 balloons in the air for 100 seconds?

100 Acts of Kindness

As parents and educators, we are always trying to promote kindness. So why not use the 100th Day of School to continue the conversation around kindness? In this activity, everyone works together to complete 100 acts of kindness from Coffee Cups and Crayons.
