Welcome to my blog! I cannot believe I’m saying that. I never thought I would have anything interesting or useful to blog about. Then I became a parent. Then my baby grew and I became a parent with a toddler that requires constant entertainment. I learned that I have a skill when it comes to entertaining her. I was able to draw on my background in early childhood development and elementary education in order to create engaging and educational activities.
Where it started
This endeavor actually started with the creation of my business Kids’ Night In with my husband, Zach. We started Kids’ Night In to meet a need for after-hours/evening licensed childcare in the Aurora, Colorado area.
While planning and launching this business, I was able to discover how much I love planning simple activities for kids that largely rely on things we already have in the house. Thus, The Simplified Parent was born.
This space is dedicated to making your journey through parenthood a little bit simpler and a lot more enjoyable. Although, it should be noted that I firmly believe parenting is one of the hardest jobs out there.
Parenthood is an incredible adventure, filled with moments of joy, love, and discovery. It’s also a journey that comes with its fair share of challenges, questions, and uncertainties. As a parent myself, I understand the complexities and the desire to navigate this terrain with confidence and ease. I also understand how exhausting you can feel. Sometimes, trying to come up with something to entertain your kids can feel like one more daunting task. As an educator, I understand how to make slight adjustments to activities to up the education value. I hope to share these with you.
